Get References on the companies.
If family or friends don’t have someone that they can recommend then make sure that any mover you are looking at are license and insured in your state. Check to see if the company has a BBB listing and see if they have had any problems with customers. You can also ask the company for three references from customers in the past three months. They should be able to provide you with at least three people that you can call and ask questions about their experiences.

Report any Problems
Make sure that you take notes during your move of anything that is broken or goes wrong. You have nine months to report any problems to the moving company and file an insurance claim. So make sure you take the time and go through and unpack anything because if you discover something a year later you will be out of luck. Your Mover will have 30 days to acknowledge receipt of your claim and within 120 days they must deny or accept your claim.
