2. Check Out The Beach
One of the great thing about living in Orlando is that you only a short drive away from some of the best beaches in the country. The state’s nickname is the sunshine state so you can take advantage of our near year round sunny weather and work on that tan.Three Major beaches are just a little over an hour away. New Cocoa Beach is the most well-known with it’s cruise port and its huge Ron Jon Surf Shop. Its the place that local and tourists alike enjoy. Smyrna Beach is much quieter with its small town feel and residential areas. If you want a calm beach outing this is the place for you. Daytona Beach is home to the Daytona 500, the world famous racing competition that takes place every year. You can layout at the beach after the race and enjoy yourself.
3. Get Prepared for Hurricanes
If you are new to Orlando or Florida all together then you will want to put together a hurricane kit. We have been lucky the past few years with only category one hurricanes which to a Floridian are easy to deal with but if you are new then you will want to get acquainted early. Talk with neighbors and ask for tips in creating a hurricane kit. Pay attention to evacuation orders and if the order is given to leave then leave.
4. Go to the Theme Parks
Orlando is known throughout the world for its many theme parks chief among them is Disney World. However it isn’t the only theme park. Orlando has dozens of attractions that many tourist don’t know about. You will have to speak with residents in order to get the inside scoop on the less well known ones. Not to mention now that you are a Florida resident you will be able to get into park much cheaper than if you just visiting. Make it a point to explore the beautiful city and you will find something that suites you.
